Message to the Future Generations Put in the Foundations of the New Hansabankas’ Headquarters

The building will proceed the formation of the new Vilnius centre by the river. We would like this modern financial services centre to become a symbol of new Vilnius — modern and hospitable city of Central and Eastern Europe”, — said Giedrius Dusevičius, Head of The Board of Hansabankas while putting the stainless steel capsule with the message for the future generations into the concrete. The new modern financial centre will fit exceptionally well in the unique central place by river Neris in Vilnius and is planned to be finished in 2009. The headquarters will consist of 2 separate buildings of 14 and 16 storeys, connected with a transparent atrium, and a 4-storey longer building together with a lower part on the roof of which there will be a public terrace. The main axis of the complex will be a pedestrian passage. The new headquarters will be open to the society. There will be many public areas inside as well as outside the building, which could be used not only by employees, but by people working in neighbouring office buildings, neighbours living nearby, all the inhabitants and guests of the city. The green terrace on the roof of the lower part of the building with great views to the river and the old town will be open to the public. There will be many public areas inside the building as well. On the ground floor there will be not only a branch of the bank, but also a café, auditorium, athenaeum. Hansabankas decided to build a new headquarters because currently offices of the bank and daughter companies are situated in 9 different places in Vilnius, therefore administrating the buildings is ineffective and costly. The new building was started to build on the site of 12400 m2. The height of the headquarters will be 59.5 m., area — about 23700 m2.
